My Paintings

After Storm Sprint 1

This painting is a 24” x 30 “ acrylic on canvas. The storm clouds are the result of a internet painting lesson and the sailing boats are from another reference photograph, and the lighthouse comes from my childhood at Jersey Shore. I did a small 8” x 10” painting of the same subject and was told by family to paint it on a large frame. I have used the same theme in another painting, but I wasn’t satisfied with the foreground in the second painting, so it’s under revision.

Winter Barn

Winter Barn is the result of hot and humid weather in New Jersey last year. Acrylic paints tend to dry out quickly in hot and humid weather, if I turned on the AC, they dried out, if I turned off the AC the same result occurred. I gave up with working in acrylics last summer and turned to watercolor. I ended up painting a series of watercolors of old abandoned barns. Most of my watercolor paintings I use light pencil lines to lay down an outline, I thought to use a permanent marker just to see the result. I think the marker gives the painting an illustrator look. I plan to paint this subject again, using the marker technic, but perhaps changing the sky and the horizon line by adding a tree line in the far distance. This painting is on 14” x 18” 140-pound paper. I recently learned that watercolors are signed in pencil, so all future watercolors are signed in pencil.
